Reading

Love that my boys enjoy reading and reading to each other.  The ice cream cone with high frequency words is something my mentor did when she was the Principal at a primary center.  Every time my son passed a scoop, we celebrate with a trip to the ice cream shop.

Local SoCal

Visited my alma mater - Long Beach State - and was reminded of all the natural wonders the campus holds.

I love the combination of art and water against the brick buildings and the thick, strong roots of the trees.

(I can sit and stare at this leaf all day.)

Five Days of Gratitude [4]

Day 4 - Thank you small plates, seashells, pebbles, earth and succulents.  Your growth always amazes me and you remind me how delicate and hardy nature is.  Thank you life for being in my backyard.

Five Days of Gratitude [3]

Day 3 - Thank you monkey graphic on my son's baby clothes for inspiring the "Monkey Mechanic" song.  Thank you memory and thank you, boys, for requesting for me to sing you this song, even to this day.  I promise to sing whenever you'd like, if you let me hold you in my arms like you were a baby.

Monkey Mechanic, that's me, that's me.  Monkey Mechanic for all to see.
I work on cars, I work on trains, I work on boats and aeroplanes.
Monkey Mechanic, that's me, that's me.  Monkey Mechanic for all to see.
Hee-bee Hee-bee Hee-bee Hee-bee.

Five Days of Gratitude [2]

Day 2: Thank you sleep for giving our bodies rest and a time to recharge.  Thank you dreams for showing us another part of ourselves.  Thank you, my love, for snoring to remind me you are alive during the night.  Thank you blankets for warmth.  Thank you bed for softness.

Five Days of Gratitude

Day 1: Thank you Bowman House for being my first, inspiring many a poem, helping me let love in and for keeping my family safe there.
